Speakers
One use of neodymium is in speakers and speaker systems. The magnets used in speakers are lighter than the iron-ferrite magnets used in other speaker systems. However, the job of the magnet lies within a small motor in the speaker that vibrates a cone of some material back and forth to create the sound waves we hear. The motor consists of a coil of varying electric charges, mostly depending on what the signal it is sent, and a fixed magnet. This fixed magnet is made of neodymium in a neodymium speaker.
