Reactions
Neodymium, being a very reactive element, goes through many different reactions. When exposed to air, neodymium forms a coating Nd₂O₃ or neodymium(III)oxide, but this does not stop the reaction within the neodymium block. Also, when it is used to tint glass, neodymium is reacted with chlorine, sulfate, and nitrate. These form the compounds neodymium (III) chloride, neodymium (III) sulfate, and neodymium (III) nitrate respectively. Also, when it is exposed to halogens, it violently reacts to form compounds with them.
